Terry Burridge

Terry Burridge
Terry Burridge is a performer of great versatility, having appeared in plays, musical comedy, pantomime, operetta and opera, and has also performed oratorio, lieder and concert programmes. She has performed regularly for all the major Perth Theatre Companies, including the W.A. Ballet Company (as a singer!).

Terry sang in Sydney as a semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera auditions and sang in the finals of the Armstrong/Martin Scholarship. She was a State finalist in the ABC Instrumental and Vocal Competition and the State winner and Commonwealth finalist. She has toured with the Arts Council on many occasions; and performances include a Gilbert and Sullivan Review, Cowardy Custard (in W.A. and South Australia) and the Divas sing Songs of Love and longing.

Some of Terry’s performances include ‘Godspell’, Grace Farrell in ‘Annie’, ‘Servant of Two Masters’, ‘The Venetian Twins’. She received critical acclaim for her moving performances of Mrs. Anna in ‘The King and I’.

Terry has performed the lead roles in almost all Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, and some of her opera performances include Zerlina and Donna Elvira in ‘Don Giovanni’, Michaela and Frasquita in ‘Carmen’ and the world premiere of Gillian Whitehead’s ‘Brides of Fortune’, at the Festival of Perth.

She was employed with the W.A. Opera Company as resident mezzo-soprano, but now freelances and teaches singing. Terry has received three Government grants to assist with singing studies. The first two enabled six months study in London, and the most recent, a month in Sydney studying opera with Richard Gill.

Terry sang in the Noel Coward Review ‘Cowardy Custard’ at the Hole in the Wall and again at the Effie Crump Theatre. She has recently completed a highly successful season of the musical ‘Masquerade’ at the Effie Crump Theatre.

Terry has performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in their sell-out Classic Pops Series at the Concert Hall.

Terry can perform to backing, with a pianist or with the well known classical ensemble, Exclusive Interlude.
